Frail Deeds of Strangers in a Worn Down Night - Carmen Reid



Carmen Reid is a Melbourne based artist whose practice incorporates drawing, sculpture, object—based installation and production design methodologies. Carmen seeks to apply a poetic sensibility to surfaces, objects and spaces to create works grounded in materiality and the transformation of the commonplace. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Sculpture at RMIT University in 2008 and achieved First Class Honours in 2009 at The Victorian College of the Arts. Since graduating, Carmen Reid has consistently participated in group and solo exhibitions, taken on curatorial roles and Art Production for local independent Theatre Companies. She recently completed a residency at The University of Tasmania’s Academy of Arts. Carmen was awarded the 2010 Williamstown Contemporary Art Prize and has received an Australia Council Artstart Grant. Carmen is a current committee member with Brunswick Arts Space, is employed with the Counihan Gallery and is engaged with the ongoing development of studio–based practice.
